Phones Suck

So I hate my phone. I haven't even had my phone a year and a half yet and it has died on my twice. The first time I was on a trip in Yuma in Dec. They had to send me a replacement phone. This time 4 months later I was on another trip in Saginaw Michigan. I pulled it out of my pocket and it had a white screen. I lost everything on my phone both times.

I really like the look of my phone and all the features, but it isn't that reliable.

What is really stupid, The first time my phone died and I had to ask everyone to send me their numbers, I didn't write them anywhere else. You would think that I would learn. Now I have to ask everyone for their numbers again. sooo sad.

My roommie has the same phone as I and her's died 3 days before mine did. We just don't have luck with phones in this apartment!!

Rain and Flowers

I love the springtime. I love the dark clouds and rain storms, the flowers and new sprouts on the trees. I love it when everything starts to come back to life after the cold winter. For the past couple of days, in Chicago, it has done that.
I just noticed a few days ago the trees started to turn green again. There are so many trees here with flowers growing on them. They smell so good and are beautiful. I also noticed that the tulips are out all over the city. My roommate and I took a walk yesterday and I had to stop and look at everything and take in their wonderful aroma.

For the past couple of days there has been cloud cover. As I went out walking yesterday and today, I loved looking up at the sky. The clouds were so thick and dark.

My favorite is when there has been a slight rain and the clouds are still dark. All the bark of the trees is wet making the wood a little darker in color. I love the color contrast between these dark clouds set as the back drop of the red brick buildings and the trees with their light green buds. I love the clean fresh scent in the air mingling with the smells of the city. Once when it started raining, I just stood outside with my face to the heavens letting the rain hit my cheeks. It’s wonderful!! It reminds me of Europe. Well except for the wind.

Annoying Construction

Two Days ago I came home from work really tired. There was Construction going on at the building next to mine. There was also scaffolding on our building because painters were working on it. I went in to try and take a nap. Right when I decided to lay down a very loud buzzing started. I tried to ignore it and put in earplugs, but it started getting so bad it was shaking the building.
I still tried to sleep for 40 minutes and drifted once till the phone rang.I soon gave up, got up and put my stuff away. I went in to complain about it to my roommate when the buzzing stopped. It was just my luck!!

Hanging out Downtown

Today after work, one of my flight attendant friends was in the crew lounge and invited me to go downtown shopping, with some of our other FA friends. It was so fun!! We kept inviting people and had a pretty nice group put together.
We went shopping, had a picnic, went to soldiers field, had a nice walk by the lake and went to Navy Pier.
I was so happy that they saved me from another day of sitting in my apartment doing nothing!! It was so nice outside. I'm glad its starting to warm up!!

Interesting Emergency

Today I came back to Chicago from Salt Lake City on a mainline United plane. When we were landing, almost touching down on the runway, the plane started climbing again and flying away. In a few minutes the capt. came on and said there was a problem with the landing gear.

He came back in the cabin, opened up a floor panel, and looked to see if the gear was locked into place.

Some of the people in the Cabin were very edgy. When we finally went in for a landing there were emergency vehicles at the end of the runway. When we got to the other end of the runway, there were even more fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, even a bus to take us away if something bad happend. It was just weird to see all those vehicles waiting for us.
I'm glad we didn't have to use them. It was interesting though.

Warm Day in Chicago

A couple of days ago It was so warm here.This was the first warm day for me in Chicago. My roomie and I went out and sat on the lake. It was so pretty. We just sat and read, talked and enjoyed the sun. Well until the wind drove us so crazy we went back home. My house is very close to the lake. I can't wait for summer to take advantage of it.

Just for interest in the first pic, my building is the 3rd building from the left. Its the small red building between the long white one and the tall red one.

Crew Lounge

Two nights ago, because of strange circumstances, I found myself on a train to work at 10:20 at night. The strange thing was I didn’t have to work. I couldn’t sleep at my house and everywhere else I wanted to go wasn’t working. I could have spent money on a hotel, but didn’t want to. I decided to stay in the crew lounge on the couch.
Yes I know it’s kind of pathetic. The worst part is that I stayed till 6 pm the next day. I sat at work just watching TV and talking to people I knew. At least I got a lunch date out of it!!!

So Tired!!

This month I am on call from 4 am to 4pm. The past 2 mornings I've had to sit at the airport on call at 6. The bad thing is, is that it takes so long to get to the airport.

I have to get up at 3:30
leave my house by 4:10
catch a 4:28 bus.

I'm grateful that I got to go on little short trips each day. It brakes up the mundane of sitting in the crew lounge for 7 hours doing nothing. I'm glad I have my books!!

Good Food in Chicago

Yesterday some friends and I went and ate Tapas at a restaurant here in Chicago called Cafe Ba Ba Reebas. It was so good!!! I loved it!!

If you don't know what Tapas are I'll tell you. They are a wide variety of appetizers in Spanish cuisine. You just order a bunch of them. We had about 5 different ones. The last one was a battered Calamari dish. This is proof I ate one with tentacle!!

Heavy Bags

Today my roommate and I went to get groceries. The thing that we didn’t think about were
1. how much stuff we bought
2. how far home we had to pack it.

We had to stop a few times because things would shift in are bags or our arms felt like they were being slowly torn from our socket. I even accidently let go of one bags handle and dropped it. A bottle of pickles fell out. We laughed a lot and had marks from the bags in our hand for awhile afterwards. It was fun. I would have been sad if I had lost the pickles.

Good Little Moments

On the 29th of March I was supposed to be home in Chicago, but instead had to take another trip. I was mad at first, but then found out it was to Salt Lake City. I was so happy.

My sister and her family were in for my mom's birthday. I was scheduled to be around for my mom's b-day, but was sent home early.

My mom and sister, with her kids, came to visit me before I left. It was so fun to see them. I was glad that Lisa and I were able to give my mom her present together. It was special.
